The founder of the Presentation Congregation is Nano Nagle was born in Ballygriffin, Mallow, Co. Cork ,Ireland . She was nurtured in Ireland’s darkest hour. She brought, love and care to the poor and neglected children of Ireland. She also brought joy and hope to the old, the sick and the frail. Her path was indeed one of charity and light whose rays have not been extinguished in two hundred and thirty two years. Nano opened her first school in Cove Lane. Cork, and so the torch that was passed still shines bright and vigorous.

Without regard for her own safety, she selflessly educated the children during the day and visited and nursed the sick by night. As a result, she became known in Cork as the Lady with the Lantern, the symbol of the Sisters of the Presentation worldwide.

Nano’s flame of love and zeal for the poor has travelled down the ages. The convent at vepery stands as an emblem of the devoted service to education as entrusted by their Foundress, Nano Nagle.

In the years since Nano's death, the Sisters of the Presentation have carried her spirit around the world in a variety of ministries.

WHAT WE SEEK TO ACHIEVE

The Policy of education in Presentation Schools derives from the life of love and mercy of Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Gospel. In particular it is derived from the life of dedication of Nano Nagle, the Foundress of the Congregation.

Education in the spirit of the Gospel and of Nano Nagle encompasses the development of a growing consciousness of the human dignity and rights of every person. This enables persons to live in fellowship and mutual helpfulness.

Our concern is for all God’s people within the local community where the school is situated especially those of the Christian faith and those deprived in any way.

Essential to education is the development of knowledge and skills enabling a person to be loyal citizen, peaceful and just, in this world. In this way God’s plan for His world may be realized and humankindattain eternal life in God.
